The certificado digital from the FNMT (Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre) is Spain's official electronic identification system. It allows you to identify yourself online to government agencies with the same legal validity as appearing in person. Once you have it, you can file taxes, check your Social Security record, sign documents, and access dozens of government services from your computer.
